Marley

Marley was a sweet, lovable old boy, a springer spaniel. And I’m so glad I could create this 11x14 memorial for a dear friend. This piece was the first time I worked at this larger size, and I loved having the extra space to really get into the details of his fur. I wanted people to look at him and see the history of an old dog, so I used warm tones to match his photo and focused heavily on capturing the gentle look in his tired eyes. Knowing his owner was moved to tears when she saw the finished portrait means everything to me, because it tells me I caught the spirit of the companion she missed so much.
